Today I reinvested the proceeds of my recent sales of Bwin.Party (BPTY).
Hammerson (HMSO) were tipped as Investors Chronicle magazine “Value stock of the year” today (page 20). I fully expected to see that the share price had risen on the news, but shares had actually fallen a little.
Hammerson are a European property firm that invests in and develops shopping centres, retail parks and prime offices through operations in the UK, France and Germany. According to the Share Centre Company Overview “Its portfolio of around 1.2 million m² of retail space and over 260,000 m² of prime offices is valued at around £5.7bn.”

It’s now nearly 5 months since I took on the role of Amateur Investor. In that time I have made hundreds of share purchase transactions, drip-feeding money into the markets as the media feeds us a daily meal of economic doom and gloom.

This is the time of year when the financial magazines (Investors Chronicle, Shares etc.), brokers, newspapers and share tipsters suggest what shares we should all be buying for 2012.
You can trawl through the various newspapers, magazines and websites to find these 2012 share tips, or you can keep an eye on the 2012 share tips section of the ShareTips365 website. It’s being updated regularly as these 2012 share tips are announced.
As you may know, a new page was added to Amateur Investor recently to bring you details of shares going ex-dividend.
The ex-dividend date is important as it’s the first day a stock trades without the dividend attached. So if you want to receive the latest dividend then you need to buy shares before the ex-diviend date.

A busy morning, with 13 share purchases so far.
Investors Chronicle magazine publishes a list of shares going ex-dividend in the “Week Ahead” section each Friday.
In order to further my quest to receive income of one form or another on every business day of the year, I like to scan down the list to see if there are any dividends I would like to be eligible for by buying in before the ex-dividend date (which is usually the Wednesday after the magazine comes out).
